Karen and I flew to Munich one day ahead of the rest of the group. We booked a room at the Munich Airport Marriott. We arrived in the afternoon. I was concerned about staying outside of Munich center, but silly me. We were actually in the town of Freising and it was adorable. Little lanes decorated for Christmas and darling store fronts. Gorgeous churches and church bells ringing and ringing! Loved it.
We stayed that night but unfortunately we had not slept on the plane for even an hour so we were in bed at 6:30 p.m. - we both woke up at 9 and thought it was morning - oh no - 9 p.m. Back to sleep for us and then I woke up at 2:30 and willed myself to sleep until 8. Yeah!
We had a lovely buffet breakfast at the hotel for only 5 Euros each. That is an amazing deal and what makes it even more amazing is that we made ourselves a sandwich for lunch too! Cha ching!
We took the Marriott shuttle back to the airport to meet up with our tour group and guide, Agnes. Agnes, is a darling red head from Ireland. Doesn't speak German but is quite cute.
We drove about an hour and forty-five minutes to the most adrorable "Hansel and Gretel" town of Ruhpolding! Oh my gosh, can it get any better than this? Oh yes, it can. The front desk clerk came out and got Karen and I and took us across the street to another place to sleep. We thought "oh no!" We should have been saying "oh YES!" She walked us into the cutest two bedroom apartment with a lovely sitting area, kitchenette, water closet and great bathroom - SCORE! Danke danke danke! We hugged her! This is so awesome! Just what Santa said he was going to get me! Our hotel is called Hotel Zur Post - it used to be the post office. It is from the 1300.
We had dinner tonight and everyone (but us) was exhausted and just wanted dinner over. Most left before dessert was served. That darn jet lag - pass me their desserts - Bavarian Cream! Yum!
Tomorrow, Monday, December 7th - we are going to Herrenchiemsee Castle (pronounced Kimsee). This castle was build by King Ludwig II.

Germany and Austria Christmas Markets 2015
Karen Binkley and I are headed out on December 4th for a 9 day (quick trip) to visit the Christmas markets. We will be staying in the smallest little town of Ruhpolding, Germany for four of those nights. Can't wait to see this little town, as I love tiny cute towns. We will also be going to Salzburg, Innsbruck, Nuremburg, Oberammegau and Munich. Here is our itinerary:
Stay tuned -

Last stop - HONG KONG! Yeah!
Almost everyone on the trip got sick and fortunately Linda and I saved ourselves for the end of the trip. We did the city tour in Hong Kong with an amazing guide, Patrick! He was quite a kick! Linda was worst than me this day. Fortunately we got to go back to the hotel and sleep all afternoon, all night and all the next day before we flew home - awesome!
Patrick told us the "happy house" was behind a tree - well, it was!
I love this piece of literature in the guestroom of our hotel - "follow no strangers to the fun places!"
What a great trip! Very long and high paced and I don't think I will eat Chinese food for a year, but a great trip. I have seen factories of ocean pearls, fresh water pearls, jade, diamonds, cashmere, cloisonne, and silk - loved the silk factory! I bought us a lovely silk comforter and duvet! I also bought a small ocean pearl ring for myself. This is what my fortunate cookie said before I left -
I did just that- it was pleasant and it was far away! Thanks Linda! Glad to be home!

Macau - almost finished!
I had caught the flu bug this day and it was soooo hot! Bus ride, ferry ride, bus ride, ferry ride! Walking like the Bataan Death March - I was fried! I could not go inside the temple as the smell just killed me - I don't do well with incense when I feel well and so being sick I just avoided it all together.
The woman with the pearl is at Zhuhai. Lovely Marriott right by it! Oh how I wanted to go to bed!
Macau is a mecca for gambling - ugh!
